Job Summary The Patient Account Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and supporting the financial aspects of patient accounts within a health care setting. The Patient Account Specialist will ensure accurate billing, collections, and record-keeping while providing excellent customer service to patients and our clients. Duties β’ Utilizes the Epic Professional Billing System to review and monitor patient accounts through the Accounts work queues. β’ Reviews the entire account to ensure claims were billed properly, payments were applied correctly, and all necessary adjustments were made before approving balance for statements. β’ Posts patient payments into the Epic system. β’ Responds to patient inquiries, both via phone and email, regarding outstanding balances. β’ Conducts outgoing pre-collection calls to patients or guarantors regarding outstanding balances β’ Provides requested information for third party liability claims. β’ Reviews patient credit balances and process refunds when applicable Skills β’ Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. β’ Professional telephone and e-mail etiquette β’ Clear oral and written communication β’ Ability to interact with patients and co-workers in a professional and helpful manner.
