Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Kimball International is seeking a Sr Data Engineer to drive business outcomes through data-driven insights. The role involves transforming transactional data into meaningful information and partnering with various business leaders to co-create analytical solutions. Responsibilities β€’ Contribute to the development of business cases, cost justifications and functional specifications β€’ Collaborate with functional teams to gather, understand, and document business requirements and challenges β€’ Participate in the construction of development standards using the best practices of SDLC and ensure adherence throughout the implementation and support process β€’ Design, develop, document, and implement data-driven solutions using enterprise-supported analytical platforms and tool sets β€’ Create or enhance enterprise grade analytical data products (semantic data models) using advanced techniques in D&A platforms (SSAS and Power Bi cloud) β€’ Develop or modify data warehouses and data marts in SQL and MS Fabric using best practices of data engineering β€’ Collaborate with business users and reporting analysts to develop and execute test plans β€’ Take ownership of existing data warehouse databases, data marts, and analytical models β€’ Monitor processes of data collection, storage, and analysis β€’ Monitor the ETL jobs for their failures / load time and continuously optimize them β€’ Develop and maintain data models using SSAS to support business intelligence and analytics β€’ Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions and assess supplier risk β€’ Constantly analyze business performance and processes using the data β€’ Train team members and business users on data literacy as and when required β€’ Stay updated with the latest happenings in the business intelligence space β€’ Mentor and provide guidance to externally contracted Data Engineering developers Skills β€’ High Integrity and ethical behavior β€’ Work in a team environment β€’ Team building skills β€’ Being able to lead the project, or be a team member in a project β€’ Enables teamwork and cooperation β€’ Extremely proficient in SQL – Databases, tables, views, Store Procedures, UDFs, CTEs, Linked servers, etc. β€’ Extremely proficient in DAX language both to query and to develop new measures / columns β€’ Sound understanding of BI semantic layer, data engineering, and database concepts β€’ Expertise in data warehouse tools / databases / modern BI solutions β€’ Ability to architect, develop and deploy enterprise grade data models using platforms like SSAS, and Power BI β€’ Ability to architect, and develop data engineering solutions to feed semantic models and to support operational reporting using tools like SQL, Power BI, Snowflake, etc. β€’ Knowledge of Data Engineering and Business Intelligence terminologies and concepts β€’ Work with multiple data sources, databases, data formats – SAP ECC, ADP, SFDC, Syspro, etc. β€’ Highly skilled in ETL process β€’ Leverage cloud technologies, including Azure Data Lake Storage, One Lake, and MS FABRIC, to build scalable and reliable data solutions β€’ Utilize Spark on MS FABRIC to perform big data processing and analysis tasks β€’ Knowledge of OLTP systems and process – SAP, SFDC, and Syspro β€’ Excellent listening abilities β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication across all organizational levels, including customers and suppliers β€’ Strong presentation and facilitation skills β€’ Ability to articulate technical issues and solutions to non-technical audiences β€’ Clarity of focus - Sets objectives, manages and measures to ensure delivery of those objectives β€’ Manages the expectations of customers, suppliers and members β€’ Proficient at 'Selling' solutions and educating others as needed β€’ Fact based decision making β€’ Must demonstrate a wide degree of creativity and latitude in this role Company Overview β€’ Kimball International is a commercial furnishings company.
