Job Description: β’ The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing management of SQL Server database solutions across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. β’ This role requires advanced expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, HA/DR architecture, automation, and security. β’ The successful candidate will collaborate closely with project teams, developers, and IT stakeholders to ensure highly available, secure, and scalable database environments that support business-critical applications. Key Responsibilities: β’ Design, plan, and implement SQL Server database solutions in on-premises and cloud environments. β’ Manage and maintain multiple SQL Server versions, including cross-server connectivity. β’ Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot SQL Server instances in physical, virtual, and Azure VM environments. β’ Install, configure, and support high availability and disaster recovery architectures (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups). β’ Oversee SQL encryption processes and ensure data security compliance. β’ Plan and execute migrations from legacy SQL Server versions to modern systems and cloud platforms. β’ Perform database tuning and optimization using industry-standard tools and methodologies. β’ Resolve issues related to database integrity, performance, blocking, deadlocking, log shipping, connectivity, and security. β’ utomate database administration tasks through scripting. β’ Conduct backups, restores, and manage recovery models to ensure recoverability. β’ Propose and implement improvements for monitoring, administration, and security. β’ Document all database changes in alignment with Change Management protocols. β’ Monitor and analyze activity to proactively prevent incidents and recommend enhancements. β’ Participate in incident response and ensure timely resolution of database issues. β’ Test and evaluate new SQL Server and DBMS software releases for impact. β’ Maintain the integrity of all database objects including structures, statistics, and indexes. β’ Identify and remediate security violations promptly. β’ Utilize SQL Trace, System Monitor, Activity Monitor, and Database Engine Tuning Advisor for diagnostics and tuning. β’ pply Microsoft Service Pack patching procedures. β’ ssess emerging database technologies to improve administration and operational efficiency. Skill Requirements: β’ Minimum 10 years of experience in SQL Server database administration and design. β’ dvanced expertise in T-SQL performance tuning. β’ Strong proficiency in Windows scripting for automation. β’ Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills. β’ Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal abilities. β’ bility to work independently and handle high-pressure, on-call situations. β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent professional experience. Preferred Qualifications (Optional): β’ Experience managing multiple SQL Server versions in parallel and configuring cross-server connectivity. β’ Hands-on experience with SQL Server on Azure VMs and hybrid environments. β’ Knowledge of Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) configuration and troubleshooting. β’ Experience migrating SQL Server data from on-premises to Azure. β’ Effective communication skills for working with developers, testers, and configuration managers.
