About the Role We are hiring a Remote College Admissions Consultant (Long-Term Planning Mentor) to work exclusively with one 9th grade student. The student enjoys math and physics but has not yet determined a specific college major. We are looking for a mentor who can provide personalized, long-term guidance to help the student explore interests, clarify academic goals, and build a competitive profile for selective college admissions. Responsibilities β’ Mentor one student over multiple years, beginning in 9th grade. β’ Guide the student in exploring interests in math, physics, and related fields, and help clarify future academic and career goals. β’ Provide academic planning (AP, IB, dual enrollment) to support long-term growth. β’ Recommend suitable competitions, summer programs, and extracurricular activities that highlight strengths. β’ Support standardized testing strategy (PSAT, SAT/ACT, AP exams). β’ Assist with college application strategy, including essays and personal statements, when the time comes. β’ Communicate progress and development regularly with parents. Qualifications β’ Bachelorβs degree or higher (any discipline); familiarity with STEM pathways is a plus. β’ Prior experience in college admissions consulting, academic advising, or high school counseling. β’ Ability to guide undecided students from interest exploration β goal setting β achievement. β’ Strong communication and organizational skills. β’ Patient, encouraging, and committed to long-term student development.
