National Center for LGBTQ Rights September 2025 Title: Immigration Project Associate Department: Legal Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position: $32.69 per hour Location: San Francisco, CA Job Description The National Center for LGBTQ Rights (NCLR) seeks a highly-skilled, enthusiastic, diligent, and motivated individual for a full-time Immigration Project Associate position in our San Francisco office. The Immigration Project Associate will work as a member of the legal staff, under supervision of the immigration attorneys and immigration project director. This is a full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. This position will be required to go to our San Francisco office on a regular basis, as well as to attend hearings or interviews as needed. This is a non-remote position. Key Responsibilities β’ Accompanying clients to civil, criminal, or immigration hearings and interviews when necessary. Serving as interpreter to clients if needed; β’ Assisting with helpline calls and correspondence concerning immigration and/or detention issues under the direction of attorneys; β’ Interviewing clients and potential clients and documenting their information accurately and completely; β’ Communicating with government and police agencies as needed to obtain information and documentation for cases; β’ Translating documents into English or Spanish when necessary; β’ Responding to individuals who have contacted NCLR in search of immigration services; β’ Assisting preparation of court filings, including immigration court; β’ Copying and scanning documents; β’ Collaborating with Communications and Development staff on media and public education related to immigration issues; β’ Maintaining and building relationships with immigrant rights community organizations and providers of healthcare, mental health, and other services to LGBTQ immigrants; β’ Assist immigration project clients in identifying other resources they may need (e.g., employment training, public benefits); β’ Creating, documenting, and monitoring data entry into the client database and creating client reports and data exports from the client database, with assistance from Administrative and legal staff; β’ Participating in DOJ accreditation process, including taking classes as necessary as part of work time; and β’ Providing research support to the Immigration Project staff as needed; Qualifications β’ 2-5 years' experience in administrative work or providing direct services to clients. Experience providing immigration-related or legal services a plus; fluency in writing, reading and speaking in Spanish and English required. Interpreting experience a plus. Multi-lingual a plus; β’ Very strong computer skills. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel; Knowledge of Cerenade a plus; β’ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; β’ Awareness of and comfort with LGBTQ and immigration issues. Experience in immigrant rights movement a plus; β’ An awareness of and commitment to a broad range of racial and economic justice issues and an understanding of the multiple communities NCLR represents and enthusiastic about NCLRβs mission and programs; β’ Culturally competent and have an ability to interact with individuals of all economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds; β’ Well-organized, able to multi-task, a fast learner, and detail-oriented; β’ Able to take initiative and to work well under pressure to meet short- and long-term deadlines; β’ Flexible and able to function independently and as a member of a team; and β’ Willing to work some flexible hours when necessary. β’ Experience with DOJ accreditation process a plus Wages and Benefits This is a full time, non-exempt position with an hourly wage of $32.69 per hour. Wage is non-negotiable.
