Frontend Software Engineer (React, TypeScript, or JavaScript) Hourly Contract | Part-Time Remote | $200 per hour (average inclusive of bonuses) 1. About the Role Mercor is partnering with leading AI research labs to engage experienced Frontend Software Engineers for a high-impact project improving the reasoning and coding capabilities of next-generation AI systems. In this role, youβll help design, extend, and validate frontend coding benchmarks that simulate real-world software development challenges. Your work will directly support AI research by building structured tasks that reflect practical engineering patterns across React, TypeScript, and JavaScript environments. This is a part-time, remote opportunity ideal for engineers who want to apply their expertise toward advancing frontier AI research. 2. Key Responsibilities β’ Develop and validate frontend coding benchmarks using React, TypeScript, or JavaScript. β’ Curate issues, solutions, and test suites from real-world repositories. β’ Ensure each benchmark includes comprehensive unit and integration testing for accurate verification. β’ Maintain scalability, consistency, and structure across all benchmark tasks. β’ Provide detailed, structured feedback on code quality and clarity. β’ Debug, optimize, and document benchmark code to ensure reliability and reproducibility. 3. Ideal Qualifications β’ 3β10 years of experience as a frontend engineer. β’ Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline. β’ Advanced proficiency in React, TypeScript, and/or JavaScript. β’ Strong background in testing, debugging, and performance optimization. β’ Excellent technical writing, organization, and communication skills. β’ Attention to detail and ability to deliver consistent, high-quality code. 4. Project Timeline β’ Start Date: Immediate β’ Duration: 1 month β’ Commitment: Part-time (15β20 hours/week) β’ Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous β flexible working hours 5. Compensation & Contract Terms β’ Base Rate: $90/hour β’ Bonus: Additional pay per approved task (each task β 1 hour to complete) β’ Median Effective Pay: ~$200/hour (inclusive of bonuses) β’ Classification: Independent Contractor (via Mercor) β’ Payments: Daily via Stripe Connect for approved work 6.
