About the position This job assists the hospital in the care of patients and performs special technical skills/treatments according to level of knowledge under the supervision of a physician. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Responsibilities β’ Provides direct patient care, within the scope of their license, with supervision from the physician. β’ Medical treatment of wounds at the basic/intermediate/advanced level. β’ Administers medications by pre-established protocol which includes vasoactive medications. β’ Draws bloodwork, places splints/boots, performs Foley insertion, and uses glucometer. β’ Administers IV fluid administration and vital signs monitoring. β’ Documents patient related tasks accurately. β’ Supports physicians, nursing, and hospital administration by acceptance of established objectives, policies and procedures. β’ Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with EMTALA regulations. β’ Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and communication style. β’ Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements. Requirements β’ High school diploma or equivalent. β’ Graduation from an approved Paramedic Program. β’ Paramedic License in the State of Practice. β’ Certified with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a Paramedic. β’ Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. β’ Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire. β’ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire. β’ Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
