Company: Farmers Life Insurance Company Location: [Insert location or Hybrid/Remote if applicable] Department: Finance / Asset Management Reports To: Director of Finance or Asset Management Position Summary Farmers Life Insurance Company is seeking a Real Estate Property Accountant to support the accounting and financial oversight of our real estate investment portfolio. This role will partner closely with Asset Management, Investments, and external stakeholders, with a focus on property-level accounting, construction draw administration, and transaction support for acquisitions, refinancings, and property closings. The ideal candidate brings strong real estate accounting experience and a solid understanding of asset management activities. Key Responsibilities Property & Asset Accounting β’ Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting for a portfolio of real estate assets β’ Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial statements β’ Track and reconcile operating expenses, CAM, property taxes, insurance, and tenant billings β’ Calculate and review property-level prorations related to income, expenses, taxes, and insurance Construction & Development Accounting β’ Prepare, review, and submit construction draw requests in coordination with lenders and asset management β’ Track construction budgets, costs, retainage, and loan requirements β’ Maintain and reconcile construction-in-progress (CIP) and capitalization schedules Transaction Support (Acquisitions & Financings) β’ Support acquisitions, refinancings, and dispositions, including: β’ Financial due diligence support β’ Review of closing statements and settlement documents β’ Setup of properties, loans, and entities post-closing β’ Coordinate accounting transitions related to property closings Reporting & Compliance β’ Assist with lender reporting and compliance with loan covenants β’ Support internal and external audits, tax reporting, and regulatory requirements β’ Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP and company policies Collaboration β’ Work closely with Asset Management, Investments, Property Management, and third-party partners β’ Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed Qualifications β’ Bachelorβs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field β’ 3+ years of real estate accounting experience (commercial or multifamily preferred) β’ Demonstrated experience with: β’ Asset management support β’ Construction draw processes β’ Acquisitions and refinancings β’ Property prorations β’ Strong understanding of GAAP related to real estate investments β’ Proficiency in real estate accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar) β’ Advanced Excel skills Preferred Qualifications β’ CPA or CPA-eligible preferred β’ Experience supporting institutional or insurance company-owned real estate portfolios β’ Familiarity with lender reporting and compliance requirements What Farmers Life Offers β’ Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits β’ Exposure to institutional-quality real estate investments β’ Stable, mission-driven organization with long-term investment focus β’ Collaborative team environment with opportunities for professional growth Apply tot his job
