Senior Solar Project Engineer (Remote) at Noviitum Energy Noviitum Energy is a dynamic and growing solar development company committed to accelerating the transition to clean energy. We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Solar Project Engineer to join our team in a remote capacity. This senior-level position plays a critical role in the successful execution of complex solar energy projects from inception through commissioning. It requires a blend of advanced technical expertise, strong project management skills, and leadership ability to drive design excellence, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide high-level technical support to cross-functional teams. The successful candidate will own the engineering deliverables for complex projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our design standards. Key Responsibilities Project Engineering & Design Leadership β’ Lead the detailed design and engineering of utility-scale, commercial, or industrial (C&I) photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. β’ Ensure all designs adhere to project specifications, industry standards (e.g., NEC, NESC), and local codes. β’ Perform system modeling and performance analysis using industry-standard software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope) to optimize energy yield and system performance (LCOE). β’ Develop and rigorously review full engineering drawing packages, including single-line diagrams, electrical site plans, DC/AC wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and specifications. β’ Conduct feasibility studies and detailed site assessments to determine optimal system configuration, identify site constraints, and mitigate engineering risks. Project Management & Coordination β’ Own the entire engineering lifecycle for assigned projects, from preliminary design through final commissioning and closeout. β’ Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Procurement, Construction, and Development teams to ensure seamless project execution and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively. β’ Manage and coordinate activities of external engineering firms and consultants, ensuring the timely delivery of construction-ready drawings and calculations. β’ Provide high-level technical support to the construction team, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and site visits to confirm design compliance. Compliance and Quality Assurance β’ Ensure compliance with all electrical, structural, civil, and environmental regulations. β’ Manage the technical aspects of the permitting and interconnection processes. β’ Conduct quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews of design packages to maintain high standards of accuracy, constructability, and value engineering. β’ Review and approve equipment specifications and drawings for procurement, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance. Technical Expertise and Mentorship β’ Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in specific technical areas (e.g., PV inverters, BESS integration, MV/HV design). β’ Mentor and provide guidance to Junior Engineers and Project Engineers, fostering technical growth and adherence to best practices. β’ Stay current with the latest solar and energy storage technologies, industry trends, and evolving regulatory requirements. Required Qualifications β’ Education: Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. β’ Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in renewable energy engineering, with a primary focus on solar PV and/or BESS projects. 2+ years of experience in a Senior or Lead engineering role. β’ Technical Proficiency: β’ Expertise in PV system design (DC and AC sizing, component selection, system layouts). β’ Proficiency in PV simulation software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope). β’ Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar drafting software) and Microsoft Office Suite. β’ Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and relevant utility interconnection requirements. Preferred Skills and Experience β’ Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is highly desirable. β’ Experience with BESS design and integration principles. β’ Familiarity with Civil/Structural design considerations for solar projects (e.g., racking systems, foundations, grading). β’ Experience leading technical due diligence for asset acquisition or project financing.
