Position Overview
A large national healthcare organization is seeking skilled Medical Directors to support clinical decision-making in a structured, remote environment. In this role, you will evaluate clinical information, determine medical necessity, and collaborate closely with external providers to ensure timely and accurate case determinations.

- Key Responsibilities
- Perform timely, compliant medical necessity reviews for inpatient services
- Ensure determinations follow CMS regulations, national guidelines, and internal standards
- Communicate clinical decisions clearly—both verbally and in written format
- Meet established productivity, quality, and compliance goals
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external providers
- Adapt to evolving utilization management processes, tools, and workflows
- Participate in required educational or training activities
- Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Minimum of 5 years of post-residency/fellowship direct patient care (inpatient or Medicare-type population preferred)
- Active Board Certification in an ABMS-recognized specialty
- Unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state (willing to obtain additional licenses as needed)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven analytical and clinical interpretation abilities
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment
- Preferred Qualifications
- Background in managed care (Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, Commercial)
- Prior experience in Utilization Management
- Familiarity with MCG® or InterQual guidelines
- Clinical experience in IM, FM, Geriatrics, Hospitalist, Emergency Medicine, or related specialties
