Overview: This role serves as a strategic thought partner translating complex, ambiguous questions into clear problem statements and driving actionable insights for senior stakeholders. Lead analysts are responsible for full-lifecycle ownership of analytical products including needs assessments, project scoping, stakeholder management, data transformation, product (e.g., dashboard, report) development, presentation/delivery, implementation support, and iterative follow-up support to ensure outputs meet stakeholder needs. An individual in this role remains consistently engaged in high-value, high-visibility workstreams with senior leadership. Primary Responsibilities: Consults with stakeholders to lead workstream scoping and prioritization through problem statement-oriented discovery and solutioning Transforms and maintains datasets for practical, scalable application Builds sophisticated statistical modeling to identify trends, evaluate causality and forecast results with viable outcomes Synthesizes results into succinct, easily digestible deliverables Delivers professional data products (e.g., dashboards, reports, documentation) with prescriptive, actionable insights Leverages automation tools to streamline data ingestion and outputs Leads continuous improvement of existing processes to refine, synthesize, and standardized workstreams Maintains documentation outlining key projects and processes Advocates for resource prioritization according to strategic demand and business value Promotes a healthy, professional work environment and culture reflecting M&T Bank’s brand Complete other related duties as assigned. Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities: Demonstrates leadership through proactive engagement with team members and partners to align workstreams and strategic intent Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years related business line experience, OR in lieu of, A combined minimum of 8 years higher education and/or work experience Additional information: Serves as a key contributor to revenue‑generating business segments, supporting staffing, branch performance, and individual goal tracking through advanced reporting and data‑driven insights. This role develops and delivers executive‑level reports, manager‑rating tools, and performance dashboards to strengthen market and territory management. Responsibilities include managing full lifecycle analytics projects from initial needs assessment and solution design to building dashboards, performing quality checks, and delivering final products. This role also enhances team capabilities by explaining data infrastructure, analytical logic, and effective application of insights. Strong partnership building is essential, with regular collaboration across performance enablement teams, managers, and key stakeholders to clarify needs, conduct assessments, and deliver actionable analytics.
