About the position
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer - REMOTE. In this role, you will play a critical part in a large-scale data modernization initiative aimed at enhancing service delivery for U.S. Veterans. Your expertise will drive the design and optimization of secure, high-performance data access across complex enterprise systems. You will work hands-on with state-of-the-art data platforms, facilitating data federation and analytics in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Collaboration is key, as you will engage with cross-functional teams to ensure data strategies meet organizational requirements. Your contributions will lead to improved decision-making and operational efficiency at a national scale.
- Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize distributed query solutions using Starburst Enterprise Platform (SEP) and Trino.
- Enable secure and governed access to data across multiple sources including cloud platforms and data lakes.
- Implement and enhance data federation, performance tuning, and query optimization strategies.
- Support identity and access management (IAM) and data governance requirements.
- Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and platform components.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability, and platform reliability initiatives.
- Collaborate with product, UX, security, and infrastructure teams.
- Troubleshoot performance issues in distributed and cloud-native environments.
- Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Hands-on experience with Starburst Enterprise Platform (SEP) or significant experience with Trino/Presto.
- 8+ years of experience with modern data platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, or Denodo.
- Strong SQL skills and experience in distributed query performance optimization.
- Experience integrating data across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Knowledge of authentication, authorization frameworks, and data security best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and infrastructure automation.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure experience strongly preferred).
