Avivar Capital is entering its next phase of growth with continued scaling of its impact investment advisory business and expansion into fund management activities. This evolution inroduces increased operational, regulatory, and financial complexity, including operating across multiple legal entities and supporting both advisory and fund-related business lines. Avivar is seeking a fractional CFO to serve as a strategic financial partner in shepherding into this new era. The Fractional CFO will serve as a senior advisor to the Firm, providing strategic financial leadership on a part-time or retainer-based basis. The role is designed for an experienced finance professional operating as an external consultant or firm that similiarly has deep experience working with instituional RIA, family office and/or fund management organizations.
The CFO will focus on scaling the firm's financial infrastructure, strengthening financial oversigh, and supporting Avivar's expansion into fund management. The role blends hands-on financial design work with higher-level advisory support, ensuring that Avivar's financial systems, reporting, and controls are aligned with its business model, regulatory obligations, and long-term strategic goals.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Financial Infrastructure and Reporting
- Design and implement a scalable chart of accounts supporting multiple legal entities and consolidated reporting.
- Establish clean cost-allocation methodoloiges across shared services and business units.
- Improve the quality and usefulness of the Firm's financial statements to reflect advisory and fund-related activities accurately.
- Support budgeting and multi-year forecasting across business lines.
- Develop financial models to support strategic fund decisions such as fund launches, staffing plans, and firm-wide optimization.
- Provide cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
- Lead profitabilty analyses by business line/product group, services and clients. Accounting Sytems and Technology Evaluation
- Assist in identifying and defining firm-wide KPIs across departments and funds, ensuring profitability (i.e., AUM growth, client acquisition costs, performance, IRR, NAV, loan quality reporting).
- Design reporting dashboards and eestablish regular cadence witn the Firm's Managing Directors.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on operational and financial trends.
- Coordinate with the Firm's compliance and legal teams on financial-related aspects of Form ADV updates and SEC exam readiness. Compliance and Internal Coordination
- Advise on tax, regulatory and operational implications to fund structures and/or business changes.
- Support audit and tax-related processes.
- Collaborate with fund administrators, auditors, and service providers, as needed.
- Conduct regular financial reviews with Managing Partners (i.e. monthly/quarterly).
- Monitor cash flow and advise on financing strategies, including lines of credit.
- Provide ad-hoc financial and strategic advisory support, as needed.
- Uphold and model Avivar's values of integrity, trust, excellence, and humiity in all internal and external interactions. Desired Qualifications
- Significant experience serving as a CFO, fractional CFO or senior financial advisor to regulated financial service firms, RIAs, funds or other similar organizations.
- Strong financial/accounting acumen.
- Demonstrated expertise in multi-entity accounting, financial infrastructure design, and scalable financial systems.
- Strong understanding of RIA operations, fund structures, and regulatory considerations within financial services.
- Experience supporting audits, tax prepartion and coordination with external service providers.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with partners, internal teams and external advisors.
- Comfort operating in a consultative, vendor-based role with flexible management structures.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, digestible/actionable insights for senior leadership.
- Highly proficient with financial software, data analytics, ERP systems and financial modeling.
- Proven track record with strategic thinking and execution.
- Experience with impact investing, private investments, or institutional clients is strongly preferred. Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- The firm or consultant should be based in and authorized to work in the US. As part of the Firm's due diligence, interested parties/firms will be asked to provide information sufficient to assess alignment, depth of experience, and overall fit for the engagement. This may include the following:
- A summary of firm/individual background(s) and relevant experience. Names and bios of specific team member(s) with whom Avivar would work with, if applicable.
- An overview of the proposed services and a description of how those services align with the provided scope of work, as well as any tools and systems typically used/employed.
- Pricing structure (hourly, retainer, project-based, etc.)
- Examples of similar client engagements, primarily RIA, fund or regulated financial services firms in the impact investing field, with private investments and/or institutional clients.
- Any additional value-added services you might recommend.
Work Environment
Avivar Capital is currently a virtual operation with frequent online meetings and remote offices.
