Avalanche Foundation supports the growth, sustainability, and decentralization of the Avalanche ecosystem, one of the world’s fastest, most scalable blockchain platforms. The Foundation partners closely with builders, investors, and ecosystem participants to steward long-term value creation and responsible innovation across Web3.
We are seeking a hands-on Chief Operating Officer (COO) to own operational execution across the Foundation.
This is a senior leadership role for a hands-on operator who thrives in high-growth, high-ambiguity environments and knows how to turn strategy into action. The COO will work closely with the Chief Investment Officer and leadership across the Foundation to ensure operational excellence, strong cross-functional coordination, and disciplined execution at scale.
- WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own end-to-end operational execution by coordinating across treasury, legal, and accounting teams
- Implement processes, coordinate, and manage projects to completion across a variety of verticals like data engineering, risk, and investment ensuring deadlines are met, budgets respected, and processes followed
- Manage relationships with key external stakeholders to maintain alignment on priorities and deliverables
- Facilitate informational flows across teams to ensure team tightness and operational awareness
- Work with CIO on resource allocation, budgeting, and financial projections
- Manage and ensure all core (accounting, HR, and legal) operational functions are running smoothly supporting the organizational need
- Continuously look for process improvements across functions
- Negotiate and manage vendor relationships
- Overseeing the daily business and administrative operations and improving operating procedures for optimal efficiency
- Provide operational insights that inform strategic decision making
- Act as a credible, disciplined public-facing representative of the FDN on operational matters when required
- WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD FIT
- Demonstrated track record in the cryptocurrency/blockchain space with deep understanding of industry dynamics, challenges, and opportunities
- History of "getting things done" in fast-paced, high-growth environments
- Strong track record of delivering complex projects on time with multiple stakeholders, dependencies, and with technical and non-technical teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead without direct authority and drive alignment across diverse teams
- Experience building processes that enhance speed and organizational efficiency
- WHAT YOU WILL BRING
- 10+ years of experience in senior operations, business operations, or leadership roles within high-growth, complex organizations
- Extreme bias for action and unafraid to get in the trenches to get things done
- Creative and pragmatic approach to identifying and solving problems
- Clear, confident, direct communicator who can influence and align diverse stakeholders
- High integrity and commitment to doing what's right for the organization
- Comfortable operating in a remote-first, globally distributed environment
