Job Description

Live Lucera, LLC is developing The Feel Kitβ„’, a consumer health education tool centered on tactile learning and body awareness, with a focus on breast cancer awareness. We are seeking an experienced industrial or product designer with hands-on silicone and prosthetic fabrication experience to help bring an early-stage physical prototype to life.

This project focuses on materiality, touch, and physical realism, not electronics or digital-only design. The goal is to create a non-clinical, inclusive tactile object that supports learning through guided touch. The core prototype involves:
  • Silicone-based tactile forms
  • Embedded texture and density variations
  • Multi-durometer materials
  • Molded components suitable for iteration and small-batch production
  • A modular approach that supports inclusivity and customization

This is an educational tool, not a diagnostic medical device.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Translating a conceptual brief into physical prototype designs
  • Advising on silicone types, durometers, and fabrication methods
  • Designing molds and forms for tactile realism
  • Fabricating and iterating early-stage prototypes
  • Refining designs based on tactile testing and feedback
  • Preparing CAD files (STL/STEP) and fabrication documentation
  • Advising on durability and manufacturability for future scaling
    Deliverables will likely include:
  • 2–4 physical prototype iterations
  • CAD/mold files
  • Material specifications and fabrication notes

We are specifically looking for someone with experience in:

βœ” Industrial or product design for physical goods
βœ” Silicone prosthetics, SFX fabrication, or anatomical models
βœ” Multi-texture and multi-density material work
βœ” Mold-making and hands-on fabrication
βœ” Iterative prototyping and user-centered refinement

Strong preference for candidates who have physically fabricated silicone prototypes, not only designed them digitally.

    Bonus experience:
  • Educational or anatomical tools
  • Inclusive design approaches
  • Preparing designs for small-batch manufacturing
    Estimated Phase 1 timeline:
  • Discovery & material planning: 1–2 weeks
  • Prototype development & iteration: 4–6 weeks
  • Documentation & handoff: 1–2 weeks

Total: ~8–10 weeks

There is strong potential for continued collaboration as the product evolves.

    Live Lucera prioritizes:
  • Inclusive, trauma-informed design
  • Thoughtful, non-clinical health education
  • Clear communication and documentation
  • Respect for intellectual property and confidentiality

Applicants must be comfortable signing an NDA prior to receiving detailed project materials.
