Role Overview
This full‑time position is based in Charleston County, SC, and reports to the Regional Crisis Services Manager. You will deliver telephonic, text, and chat‑based crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, or other mental health emergencies. The role demands cultural sensitivity, strong written communication skills, and the ability to assess risk quickly and accurately in a virtual environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Real‑time crisis response: Receive and respond to incoming 988 text and chat requests, providing immediate emotional support and safety planning.
- Risk assessment: Conduct rapid but thorough assessments of suicidal ideation, self‑harm intent, and potential threats to others, following arenaflex’s standardized protocols.
- Resource connection: Identify appropriate community resources, mental health professionals, and emergency services; facilitate warm hand‑offs when necessary.
- Documentation: Accurately log all interactions in the secure arenaflex incident management system, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and data‑quality standards.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with telephone crisis counselors, local mental health agencies, law‑enforcement, and medical providers to create seamless support networks.
- Cultural competence: Deliver services that respect the diverse cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and disability backgrounds of callers and chat users.

Essential Qualifications

- Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing crisis intervention, suicide prevention, or behavioral health support via phone, text, or online chat.
- Certification in suicide prevention (e.g., ASIST, QPR, or equivalent) is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written communication, including empathy, clarity, and rapid response under pressure.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans in accordance with arenaflex protocols.
- Strong knowledge of South Carolina mental‑health resources, community services, and emergency response pathways.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively in a remote‑team environment.
