Location: Columbia, South Carolina (100% Remote currently – must be willing to relocate onsite if required)
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)

Position Overview
The Client is seeking an Information Systems Architect – Project Lead to support ongoing cloud modernization initiatives and AWS-based service expansion.
This role will provide technical leadership for designing, deploying, administering, and supporting AWS environments used by mission-critical applications. The consultant will collaborate with cloud engineering, application development, security, and operations teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions.
The position will support both production and non-production environments, ensuring alignment with organizational architecture standards, security policies, and operational best practices.
- Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and administer AWS cloud environments following best practices.
- Support AWS account structures, IAM roles, policies, and least-privilege access models.
- Develop and maintain solutions using AWS services including:
- Amazon EC2, Auto Scaling, and Elastic Load Balancing
- Amazon VPC networking, subnets, routing, and security controls
- Amazon S3, EBS, EFS, and lifecycle policies
- AWS Lambda and API Gateway for serverless architectures
- CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config for monitoring and logging
- Configure and support Amazon Connect contact center environments including:
- Contact flows and routing
- Queues and routing profiles
- Call recording, prompts, and analytics
- Implement integrations with AWS Lambda, APIs, and external systems.
- Design and integrate AI-enabled solutions using Amazon Bedrock where applicable.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and cloud cost optimization opportunities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application issues.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
- Collaborate with security teams to implement:
- Encryption
- Logging and monitoring
- Compliance controls
- Maintain documentation including runbooks and architectural diagrams.
- Provide knowledge transfer and mentorship to engineering team members.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and after-hours support when required.
- Required Skills
- 6+ years of experience supporting enterprise systems
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS development or administration experience
- 3+ years of experience with AWS core services including:
- EC2
- VPC
- IAM
- S3
- Lambda
- 3+ years of experience with Amazon Connect or contact center technologies
- 3+ years of experience integrating APIs, serverless functions, and cloud-native services
- 3+ years of experience implementing Infrastructure as Code and automation
- 3+ years of experience with AWS security best practices, logging, and monitoring
- 3+ years of scripting experience (Python, Bash, or equivalent)
- Required Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
- OR
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional
- Preferred Skills
- Experience with AI/ML integrations and prompt engineering
- Experience with hybrid cloud or third-party integrations
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps
- Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Services
- Experience with Hybrid Cloud Architectures
- Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305)
