This position serves as the Environmental Systems Engineer responsible for design, development, and operation of complex data systems that collect, store, and analyze large volumes of environmental data. The position will apply engineering best practices to design and structure data systems that utilize new and emerging technologies capable of performing advanced environmental engineering and scientific tasks, risk evaluations, chemical data analysis, and report interpretation. The position will develop data analytics focused on data extraction, pattern recognition, and statistical analysis of environmental data. The position will review and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports for the development and maintenance of data systems. The position will act as a technical consultant and liaison to provide training and technical support to engineering, scientific and administrative staff, as well as the public, legislators, and other stakeholders for data systems used by the division. The position will make policy recommendations related to data engineering and management to division leadership. The position will also serve as administrator of the Remediation Information Data Exchange (RIDE). The position will provide project management to the RIDE development team and work with stakeholders to design user requirements. The position will extract information from RIDE using Structured Query Language (SQL) and other methods to respond to FOIA requests, media, legislative, executive management, and other inquiries. The position will provide training and user support to EGLE staff, third-party users, and the public, and will support and review work performed by the RIDE submittals management team and the RIDE departmental analyst.

Position Description

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Experience
Four years of experience equivalent to an Environmental Engineer, including two years equivalent to an Environmental Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to an Environmental Engineer 12 or Environmental Engineer Licensed 12.
