The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will work on cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable infrastructure, ensuring that application development teams can effectively deliver modern user experiences in the cloud. Responsibilities β€’ Dev sec ops (development, security, operations) engineering, to include building infrastructure as code and DevOps pipelines and reviewing solutions built by others on the team β€’ Researching and analyzing technical solutions β€’ Maintaining and enhancing documentation using various engineering tools β€’ Managing integrated systems used by the client β€’ Completing work received from application teams β€’ Proactively identifying blockers, risks, and issues, proposing solutions or escalating as appropriate β€’ Researching, selecting, and creating new automation tools or frameworks β€’ Implementing automation for a variety of cloud resources β€’ Designing initial architecture or changes to architecture for a project β€’ Documenting and communicating architecture, technical solution plans, rollout plans and project updates to stakeholders β€’ Collaborating with stakeholders to incorporate their feedback β€’ Identifying stakeholders and obtaining buy-in β€’ Tracking stakeholders’ technical tasks to keep the project on schedule β€’ Ensuring any issues or blockers that develop are addressed and resolved β€’ Identifying gaps and closing them β€’ Staying ahead of staffing issues, ensuring that hiring through subcontractors is efficient β€’ Escalating to program manager any concerns raised β€’ Building client trust by being available as a sounding board for questions or issues β€’ Performing code and technical reviews β€’ Facilitating meetings β€’ Establishing engineering norms and practices and ensuring compliance β€’ Collaborating with teammates to identify and determine solutions β€’ Teaching teammates how to manage time, projects and be productive β€’ Serving in the on call rotation β€’ Facilitating post-mortems after incidents β€’ Respond to tickets or routing tickets to the appropriate engineer β€’ Applying patches and updates to operating systems and libraries Skills β€’ Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or mix of Software Engineering β€’ A Bachelor's Degree (in any discipline) or four years of experience in lieu of a degree β€’ Experience managing different systems (e.g Windows Server, Linux CLI) and automating repetitive tasks β€’ Experience training and mentoring engineers β€’ Scripting (python, Go, Javascript) β€’ Experience designing CI/CD and other workflow automation spanning multiple systems β€’ Incident handling and followup (root cause analyses, etc) β€’ Knowledge of cloud primitives (VPC, ACL, Route Tables, Security Groups, Images) β€’ Experience running asynchronous jobs, e.g. using services like ECS or Lambda β€’ Ability to use the command line to achieve practical aims, e.g. navigating the shell; moving and downloading files from external servers; searching and parsing files for information; and running queries β€’ Advanced ability to contribute and update existing code and/or Infrastructure as Code β€’ A thoughtful, adaptive, and collaborative mindset/understanding of networks, protocols, and multi-service architectures β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, technical and otherwise β€’ An interest in and familiarity with one or more of the following areas: Cloud Infrastructure, cloud architecture, IT service management, Unix/Linux, scripting, networking, or security β€’ Able to follow and establish, when needed, standard operating procedures β€’ Legal authorization to work in the United States β€’ Ability to meet any other requirements for government contracts for which candidates are hired β€’ Work authorization that doesn't require visa sponsorship, now or in the future β€’ May be subject to a government background check or security clearance, depending on the contract Benefits β€’ Health coverage β€’ Insurance coverage β€’ Time off β€’ Company holidays β€’ Annual bonus β€’ Parental leave β€’ Wellness program β€’ Virtual care β€’ Sabbatical leave β€’ 401(k) match β€’ Flexible work β€’ Home office setup β€’ Utility support β€’ Learning opportunities β€’ Development opportunities β€’ Referral bonus β€’ Commuter benefits β€’ Supportive culture Company Overview β€’ Nava is a consultancy and public benefit corporation that makes government services simple, effective, and accessible to all.
