Worship DirectorGeneral Description
This position is responsible for the planning, preparation, implementation, and review of the weekly Worship Gathering on Sunday morning. This position reports to the Lead Pastor and directs two Ministry Teams: Worship (including musicians and vocalists)
and Tech (including Audio, Media, and Livestream Ministry Partners). Opportunities for growth include leadership of the Prayer Team and the Response Team.
- Weekly Expectations (28-30 hours per week):
- Rehearsal (4 hours)
- Tuesdays: 2:00pm - 6:00pm
- 2 hours preparation, set up, & tear-down
- 2 hours for rehearsal
- Sunday Worship Gathering (6 hours)
- Sundays: 7:00am - 1:00pm
- Pre-Service Preparation
- Set up
- Run Through
- Service
- Tear Down
- Post-service tasks
- Administrative Tasks (4 hours per week)
- Service planning and scheduling through Planning Center
- ProPresenter build development
- Reviewing potential worship songs for team consideration
- Adding new songs to the master set list
- Adding to Planning Center with correct chord charts & other supporting files
- Adding to ProPresenter library with correct lyrics & βnormalβ arrangement
- Ensuring worship team members have access to supporting resources like rehearsal mix, worship artistry, etc.
- Adding the backing tracks through Loop Community/Prime
- Song database management in Planning Center and Loops app.
- Scrubbing the master set list
- Ensuring the scrubbed list has correct keys, correct chord charts (& correct format), and correct supporting files
- Exploring other media elements for consideration during the worship gathering (videos, etc.)
- Assisting with new/missing people engagement weekly
- Team/Pastoral Development (6 hours per week)
- Meeting with and developing Worship and Tech Ministry Team Leaders
- Currently this is one position (tech lead), but could grow into multiple.
- Relational investment in ministry partners
- Recruiting new ministry partners for Worship and Tech teams
- Strategic Planning and Growth (5 hours per week)
- Meeting with the Teaching Team to craft future worship gatherings
- Planning and executing auxiliary worship team events and training
- Musical and spiritual growth for self and team
- Long-term planning and goal setting, etc.
- Social media & worship (Kels needs to flesh this out a bit)
- Participation in a consistent coaching relationship
- Oversight (proactive vision & conversation) and support for Worship across other ministry areas (KidMin, Students, Adults)
- General Meetings and Communication (3+ hours per week)

- Strong Musical Abilities, including:
- Ability to play at least one instrument at an upper-intermediate to advanced level
- (or effort put toward growth in this)
- Basic understanding of typical worship band instruments (guitar, keys, bass, drums, vocals, etc.)
- Ability to equip teams for success
- read and write chord charts
- transpose music
- instruct vocalists through harmony parts
- Strong interpersonal leadership skills
- At least 3-5 years of experience leading worship at the local church level
- 2 Professional references who can speak to your leadership are expected
- A minimum of 1 audio/video example of your leadership is expected
