We’re seeking a part-time Research Mentor with a background in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related fields to guide high-achieving high school students through independent academic research projects.

Position Overview
The Part-Time Research Mentor will work on a flexible, as-needed basis, with weekly hours varying depending on student demand. You’ll meet with students virtually and guide them through developing a focused research project within artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or related technical fields. Students are motivated and come from both domestic and international backgrounds.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead weekly virtual mentorship sessions with assigned students
- Help students explore and refine research interests within AI, machine learning, or computer science
- Provide general guidance on technical research, problem-solving approaches, and evaluating credible sources
- Offer high-level feedback on students’ ideas, project direction, and written work
- Keep students organized, motivated, and progressing throughout the program
- Maintain clear, professional communication with students, families, and the JV Admissions team
- Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related fields strongly preferred
- Academic or professional experience in AI, machine learning, computer science, or related technical disciplines
- Graduated from top 10 or 20 schools (preferred)
- Prior experience mentoring, teaching, tutoring, or supervising student projects is a plus
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to explain technical ideas clearly
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable working with families across time zones

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
