CFO Expertise (cfoexpertise.com) is a fractional CFO firm built specifically for Ecommerce and D2C brands.

We help operators make better decisions through clean financials, clear insights, and straightforward guidance that improves cash flow, profitability, and growth.

We’re hiring a Fractional Ecommerce CFO to join our team on a part-time, contract-to-hire basis (first 90 days).

You’ll onboard into our systems, learn our client delivery process, and take on a small set of Ecommerce CFO clients.

You’ve worked directly with US-based Ecommerce/D2C brands doing $1M–$50M+ in annual revenue.
You’re confident in Ecommerce financial mechanics, and you actually enjoy client conversations.
You can explain numbers simply, give practical advice, and earn trust quickly.
*Preferred locations: Virginia or Tennessee Must be located in the United States.**
*What You’ll Do**
Client-Facing CFO Support
Lead monthly/biweekly calls with founders and leadership teams.
Translate financials into clear actions to grow revenue and profit.
Build strong relationships through consistent communication and follow-through.
*Financial Strategy + Insights**
Identify profit leaks across channels, products, COGS, fulfillment, and ad spend.
Guide budgeting, forecasting, and cash planning tied to real operating goals.
Create KPI dashboards and narratives that make decision-making faster.
*Ecommerce-Specific Financial Work**
Analyze contribution margin, LTV/CAC, MER/Blended ROAS, and channel profitability.
Evaluate inventory, cash conversion cycle, POs, and working capital needs.
Partner with bookkeeping/accounting to ensure clean data and reliable reporting.
*Internal Collaboration**

Follow CFO Expertise SOPs for consistent client delivery.

Work closely with Jarrod (Owner + Head CFO) and the team to align on strategy.

*What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)**

You complete onboarding and master CFO Expertise delivery standards.

You take ownership of a few clients and run confident, high-value calls.

Clients clearly understand their numbers and next steps after every meeting.

*Requirements**
3+ years of hands-on experience as a CFO / fractional CFO / finance leader for Ecommerce or D2C brands.

Strong knowledge of Ecommerce finance: inventory, margins, ad spend dynamics, fulfillment, returns, chargebacks, and cash flow.
Excellent communication skills with founders and operators.
Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets) and comfort with modern finance stacks.
*Nice to Have**
Experience with Shopify ecosystems and multi-channel commerce (Amazon, marketplaces, retail/wholesale). •Familiarity with tools like QuickBooks/Xero, A2X, Gusto, Ramp/Bill, Looker Studio, Fathom/Jirav/Cube, etc. •Background in agencies, PE-backed brands, or fast-growth operator environments.

Type: Part-time, contract-to-hire (first 90 days)
Location: Remote (US only)
Schedule: Flexible, with meaningful overlap preferred with Jarrod in CST (Nashville, TN)
Compensation: 60% CFOE, 40% Fractional CFO split on clients.
Client monthly retainers range from $2,500/month to $10,000+/mo.
Growth Path: Option to expand client roster and move full-time (not required)
