Job Description
Achievement Network (ANet) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping all students achieve strong educational outcomes. The Temporary Instructional Content Writer, Compass will create high-quality, standards-aligned formative products for teachers and students in ANet partner schools, focusing on content development and design for ANet’s Compass product.
Responsibilities
- Create ANet assessment content and supporting materials aligned with content standards
- Develop instructional support materials:
- Research and analyze curriculum and content standards examples from states and external organizations
- Review historical distractor data to identify common misconceptions for each standard or part of standard
- Create aligned resources for common misconceptions, such as visual examples of student work that illuminates a misconception, or a narrative explaining a common misconception, its root causes, and possible solutions
- Use feedback on resources to iterate and improve created materials
- Additional duties may include:
- Writing math assessment items aligned to standards, including but not limited to traditional and technology-enhanced item types
- Addressing feedback on assessment item content from multiple stakeholders in order to revise
Skills
- Solid understanding of mathematics state instructional standards, including Common Core State Standards
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly in a variety of work settings, including internal/external meetings and presentations, using language that is relatable to stakeholders
- Ability to create mathematical visuals that are clear and easy to understand
- Ability to organize workstreams and take initiative to get assignments completed
- Work effectively under deadlines and fast-paced work
- Be able to incorporate input from teams or external sources, including educators
- Ability to recognize needed data and understand how it impacts decisions in the work or role
- Flexibility to learn and adapt to new technology to support the efficiency or delivery of work
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Prior instructional teaching experience in mathematics, with preference in grade 2-8
- Working knowledge of strong instructional practice in mathematics and assessment design principles, with preference in grade 2-8
