Job Description

They are seeking an Electrical Designer – Lighting and Traffic Signals to work on multi-disciplinary projects, providing clients with superior customer experiences and contributing to the technical expertise in traffic signal and illumination design.


Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the technical expertise on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects including: Design of traffic signals and illumination
  • Prepare lighting and traffic signal layouts
  • Prepare wiring diagrams and electrical details
  • Photometric analysis of lighting systems
  • Design of low voltage electrical distribution design for subdivisions
  • Voltage drop calculations
  • Prepare contract documents and specifications
  • Site visits and contract administration
  • Coordinate a variety of multi-disciplinary projects for both public and private sector clients
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Input to the career development of junior staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching and mentoring
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees

Skills

  • A degree in electrical engineering
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months
  • A minimum of 1-4 years of professional experience, preferably in the consulting industry
  • Proven experience in the design of traffic signals and illumination
  • Knowledge of AGi32 and other lighting calculation programs
  • Knowledge of various municipal and MTO lighting and traffic signal design standards
  • Knowledge of MTO Contract Preparation System (CPS)
  • Knowledge of ANSI/IES, Transportation Association of Canada standards and Ontario Electrical Safety Code as they relate to lighting and traffic signals
  • Strong abilities in project management/coordination
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential
  • IMSA Certifications in Traffic Signal Level I and Level II Design, Roadway Lighting Technician Level I and Level II are considered an asset
