Job Description
Maryland Auto Insurance is a Property & Casualty Insurance carrier and independent agency of the State of Maryland. They are seeking a results-driven Producer Services Representative committed to driving premium growth, expanding producer engagement, and strengthening visibility across the state. The role primarily focuses on increasing written premium by expanding the active producer network and ensuring producers understand how Maryland Auto supports their business.
Responsibilities
- Recruit new producers and agencies to expand Maryland Autoβs distribution footprint across Maryland
- Increase written premium by promoting Maryland Autoβs value proposition, eligibility options, and coverage advantages
- Re-engage underperforming or inactive producers to restore production levels and identify new business opportunities
- Conduct regular in-person producer visits to strengthen relationships and introduce tools
- Represent Maryland Auto at industry events, producer meetings, mobile field engagements, and community outreach efforts
- Deliver impactful training that improves producer productivity and submission success
- Coach producers on how to position Maryland Auto effectively to win more business
- Provide timely support to resolve underwriting questions
- Conduct in-person underwriting assessments to verify eligibility and compliance
- Perform site visits, documentation audits, and interviews to confirm risk accuracy
- Identify inconsistencies or risk indicators and escalate concerns appropriately
- Partner with underwriting, fraud, and claims teams to support consistent decision-making and obtain relevant producer feedback
- Assist underwriting with continued development of sales and performance reporting
- Document outreach activities, training sessions, producer interactions, and underwriting reviews
Skills
- 1-3 years of auto insurance underwriting experience, preferably with field responsibilities
- Knowledge of Maryland personal auto regulations and Maryland Auto's role as a residual market mechanism
- Ability to influence stakeholders and support premium-growth efforts
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience with Maryland Auto or assigned-risk plans
- Background in field underwriting, producer-facing roles, or fraud detection
- Insurance certifications such as AU, AINS, or CPCU
- Spanish/English bilingual ability a plus
