Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Salient is a performance optimization partner that helps organizations align decisions, accountability, and outcomes to drive sustained improvement. The Data Warehouse Applications Technician will work closely with senior team members in a SQL-focused role, gaining hands-on experience in developing analytical solutions while receiving mentorship and guidance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various operational tasks with guidance from senior team members
- Support the design, development, and troubleshooting of ETL automation routines
- Perform data analysis, investigation, and interrogation using SQL and other tools, building skills through real-world applications
- Learn to comprehend and interpret database diagrams and data dictionaries
- Create and maintain project documentation to ensure clear tracking of progress
- Communicate professionally with team members and clients, honing your skills in a collaborative setting
- Collaborate with senior team members to develop automated processes supporting client installations
- Work with clients and Salient consultants to understand user requirements and contribute to solutions
- Provide ongoing support for client production systems and help maintain Salient solutions
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, information systems, data science, business analytics, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply) preferred. Relevant Associates degree will be considered
- 0-2 years of relevant experience (internships, academic projects, or part-time roles count)
- Basic to intermediate SQL skills – ability to demonstrate proficiency through coursework, projects, or self-study
- Some exposure to programming/scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, Batch, or PowerShell (e.g., from college classes or personal projects) for automating simple data tasks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, leveraging your mathematics background to identify and resolve data-related issues
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Eagerness to learn and stay current with the latest trends and best practices in data warehousing and related technologies
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
- Familiarity with database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS), Snowflake, Databricks, Vertica, or Oracle
- Experience with ETL tools like Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or Alteryx
- Experience with business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
- Understanding of data integration techniques such as data cleansing, data mapping, and data transformation
- Familiarity with relational databases, with a focus on DSD, CPG, product distribution, warehousing, or retail POS sales systems and data
- Experience working with large-scale datasets related to product distribution, retail sales data, or similar relational databases
