Job Description
Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada is seeking an Associate Group Underwriter. The role involves assessing and managing risk by analyzing data related to customer requests and new business opportunities, while providing insights and solutions to client problems.
Responsibilities
- Assess and manage risk by analyzing data relating to requests from existing customers or new business opportunities
- Provide insights and creative solutions to help solve existing or new client problems when issues arise
- Set pricing to renewal in-force contracts and provide quotations for new business opportunities
- Meet Sun Life’s quality and service standards and respecting deadlines
- Develop a good understanding of the administrative, contractual and legislative Group Benefits environment
- Develop a strong understanding of Sun Life’s products and services, underwriting guidelines, systems and tools, pricing methodologies and market feedbacks
- Partner with the sales and service team to provide outstanding client services and achieve profitability objectives
Skills
- Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide
- Strong knowledge in Microsoft Suite
- Solid analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills
- Have a structured and systematic approach aimed at making a unique contribution to various emergency situations in compliance with internal policies and directives
- Attention to details
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, under pressure, in an organized, efficient and autonomous manner
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills both written and verbal
- Group Benefit knowledge is an asset
- STEM-related degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Administration, Finance or Accounting degree or equivalent experience
- CEBS certificate is an asset
