Job Description
ATCS is seeking a highly motivated Roadway Design Engineer to join their team. This role involves supporting roadway design services in Virginia and performing various engineering tasks related to VDOT and municipal roadway design projects.
Responsibilities
- Planning and design of transportation-related facilities
- Familiarity of the VDOT Roadway Design Manual and AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design
- Supporting Senior Staff in a variety of tasks in the field of transportation design
- Designing horizontal and vertical roadway geometry
- Preparing various stages of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Drafting technical reports
- Conducting field visits during design or construction
- Participating in client and public meetings
Skills
- A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- 1-4 years' experience in the field of transportation engineering
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and able to thrive in a busy environment with multiple assignments
- The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrate experience with MicroStation V8i, OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and OpenRoads, ConceptStation
