Job Description
The Employment Development Department (EDD) is one of the largest State departments in California, focused on connecting job seekers and employers. They are seeking an Accountant I (Specialist) to perform semi-professional accounting work, including maintaining records for cash receipts and disbursements, and processing miscellaneous cash transactions critical to the department's operations.
Responsibilities
- Under direct supervision of the Accounting Administrator I, the incumbent performs the more difficult semi-professional accounting work in the establishment and maintenance of records for cash receipts and cash disbursements
- The primary responsibilities for this position include posting daily entries to accounting registers for cash receipts, returned checks, redeposited checks, and escheated items
- The posting may be to legacy and/or FI$Cal systems
- The Accountant I (Specialist) processes miscellaneous cash transactions and assists with cash transfers that are critical to the department's operations
- Using the ACES system, the incumbent checks daily for Employer Emergency Refunds and processes the requests
- The incumbent communicates daily with staff in all units of Fiscal Programs Division's Accounting Section, as well as EDD's Tax Branch and Unemployment Insurance Accounting Division
- The incumbent may also have contact with staff in the State Controller's Office, the State Treasurer's Office (SCO) and with banks
- The incumbent must be able to deliver small packages within a six-block radius of the office

- Completed applications and all required documents must be received or postmarked by the Final Filing Date in order to be considered

- All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position
