Job Description
Civitas is a Sacramento-based legal and consulting firm specializing in economic development and community improvement projects across the United States. They are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Analyst / Paralegal to support their team by becoming an expert in improvement district laws, assisting project managers, working closely with clients, and producing accurate legal documents. The role involves drafting and managing contracts, analyzing laws, and communicating professionally with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities

- Ensure all documentation aligns with legal requirements and organizational objectives
- Analyze laws, make judgment calls, and build persuasive cases
- Communicate professionally via email, phone, and in-person with clients, elected officials, and project stakeholders
- Follow-through on tasks, even when waiting for others to complete their part
- Write about legal concepts in a manner understandable by attorneys and laypeople alike
Skills

- The ability to professionally communicate via email, phone, and in-person with clients, elected officials, and project stakeholders
- A strong sense of ownership in your work and the ability to follow-through on tasks, even when you are waiting for others to finish with their piece of the puzzle
- A passion for writing about legal concepts in a manner that can be understood by attorneys and laypeople alike
- Knowledge of contracts and non-profit corporation law
- Advanced knowledge using Lexis Advance and Microsoft Word, including mail merge templates
- A Bachelor's Degree in paralegal studies and a minimum of one year paralegal experience in the field
- A Bachelor's Degree in any subject, an Associate's Degree in paralegal studies and, a minimum of one year paralegal experience in the field
- A Bachelor's Degree in any subject, a minimum of two years' paralegal experience in the field with a written 6450 declaration from an attorney with whom you've worked
- An Associate's Degree in paralegal studies and a minimum of two years' paralegal experience in the field
- Paralegal certificates from ABA-approved programs and/or voluntary designations including RP or CLA
- Experience in project management
- Experience in nonprofit corporations
- Experience in municipal law
- Experience in government relations
- Experience in legislative experience (assessment districts, open meeting laws and public record laws)
