Job Description
Columbia Bank New Jersey is seeking a Commercial Credit Analyst I to prepare commercial credit memorandums for loan transactions. This entry-level role involves financial analysis, industry research, and ensuring compliance with internal credit policies.
Responsibilities
- Spread both business and personal financial statements to perform financial analysis and repayment assessment
- Conduct financial analysis, industry and market assessment, repayment capacity, collateral coverage, and an assessment of guarantor support on smaller CRE, C&I and Construction loan transactions through the preparation of written commercial credit memorandums
- Research and analyze third party industry and market reports. Review third party search reports including, but not limited to, UCC lien searches, personal credit reports, judgment searches, property searches
- Perform annual credit file reviews as needed
- Run business and personal credit scores to determine approval or decline through an automated quick decision tool
- Support the assignment of risk ratings and document upgrade and downgrade triggers in accordance with the Bankβs Internal Asset Review Policy
- Practice ability to independently build job knowledge and understand policies and procedures
- Make recommendations to management for process enhancement as needed
- Ensure commercial credit transactions are in full compliance with all internal credit policies
- Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or another related field required
- Strong aptitude for figures and accuracy
- Proven problem solving, decision making, underwriting and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently under time constraints
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with good organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer software including MS Office applications and other specialized credit analysis and lending software
