Job Description

The State of Wisconsin's Department of Revenue is seeking an Unclaimed Property Specialist Developmental to join their Tax Operations Bureau. This role involves analyzing and processing claims related to unclaimed property, providing guidance to claimants, and approving claims up to $10,000 under supervision.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze, review and process records and forms to determine claim management under statutory provisions
  • Provide direction to claimant (or their representatives) about claim requirements and eligibility
  • Compute and determine payments or assets/securities transfer
  • Approve claims up to $10,000
  • Perform all holder reporting functions
  • Complete basic functions related to tangible property (stocks, mutual funds, savings bonds, safe deposit boxes)

Skills

  • Experience providing customer service to external customers by phone, in person, or in writing
  • Experience reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness and/or compliance with police and procedures
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, or equivalent
  • Experience approving or denying claims (e.g., claims for refund)
  • Experience with financial or holder reporting
  • Experience researching technical issues
  • Experience working with legal documents, (e.g., will/trust, reviewing pleadings/filings of court documents, beneficiary entitlements)
  • Experience with security transactions (e.g., applying dividends, transferring, or selling shares)
