Job Description

California ISO is an independent organization that manages the flow of electricity across California's power grid. The Associate Resource Management Analyst will develop skills to perform analysis and provide recommendations related to resource participation in the ISO market, while collaborating with internal and external teams to enhance business processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Learns to perform queries and analysis to validate and manage data for resource management and modeling activities, including interconnection implementation, full network model maintenance, resource and entity maintenance, business processes and associated procedures. Supports departmental efforts to collaborate with internal and external resources to coordinate solutions as required
  • Assists with analysis of business processes, procedures and applications to develop recommendations for enhancements to improve efficiency and/or capabilities as required in accordance with tariff, customer needs and initiatives
  • Works with team members to develop, document and update business requirements, queries, and designs to ensure efficient business operations following the software development and implementation process. Learns to create and run queries and reports, extract data, perform engineering analysis, and develop specifications for queries to support business needs
  • Performs data analysis and produces reports to communicate information as needed to internal business units, external entities and regulatory agencies
  • Supports corporate requirements including legal holds, records retention, and file migrations, as required. Learns to effectively navigate and use the eRecords repository

Skills

  • A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related discipline required
  • This is an entry-level position, no experience required
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment as a facilitator and team member
  • Ability to provide practical and feasible solutions to problems, keeping multiple conflicting considerations into account
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills required
  • Strong analytical skills are required, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical materials and concepts in a non-technical manner
  • Must be able to handle a dynamic and changing work environment, and work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Access, Word, Visio, PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, problem solving skills and the ability to influence others without direct authority
  • Ability to manage relational databases and associated tools/applications
  • Coursework in data analysis, quality control, communication skills and/or SQL is desired
  • Experience in relational database software tools such as TOAD and SQL plus is highly desired
  • Ability to understand SQL scripts or similar software code and algorithms and be able to maintain them is desired
