Job Description
About Tzedek America
Tzedek America designs transformative, values-driven educational programs (civil rights & immigration journeys, local justice learning, workshops for schools/synagogues/community groups) that help young people become brave, compassionate leaders. We partner with independent schools, public school districts, camps, synagogues, and churches nationwide.
Role Summary
We’re hiring our first-ever Partnerships & Business Development Manager to expand our reach and revenue. This person will not only find new organizations, make initial contact, learn our program catalog, set up sales appointments, and eventually close deals — but will also help create the mold for how Tzedek America approaches sales and partnerships going forward.
The role is performance-based: you must secure new clients within your first 4 months, or the contract will not be renewed.
You’ll work directly with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, and program directors to ensure every department is supported in reaching new partners and generating revenue.
We are looking for someone who is kind, extremely motivated, highly organized (executive functioning skills), and understands how to manage up — proactively keeping leadership informed, asking for resources when needed, and anticipating challenges before they arise.
What You’ll Do
- Prospecting & Outreach (≈70%)
- Research and develop lead lists of schools, synagogues, youth orgs, and community groups.
- Spend the majority of your time on the phone and email with prospective clients.
- Build strong first impressions, set up discovery calls, and secure sales appointments.
- Keep meticulous records of all outreach and progress in Monday.com.
- Sales & Closing (≈20%)
- Learn Tzedek America’s program catalog and confidently present offerings.
- Conduct virtual sales meetings and guide prospects through decision-making.
- Draft proposals, present pricing, and negotiate contracts.
- Begin closing deals independently after onboarding.
- Collaboration & Reporting (≈10%)
- Work directly with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, and program directors to expand reach across all program areas.
- Report weekly on activity, pipeline, and results.
- Share insights to help refine outreach strategies and program offerings.
- As our first business development hire, shape processes, scripts, and systems for future growth.
- Performance Expectations
- Within 4 months, secure new clients (not just leads).
- Maintain consistent outreach volume: calls, emails, and follow-ups.
- Keep progress transparent and organized in Monday.com.
- Build a pipeline that demonstrates sustainability beyond the initial term.
- Help establish the foundation for future sales hires.
Qualifications

- Proficiency with CRMs or project management tools (experience with Monday.com a plus).
- Highly organized and able to track progress across many prospects.
- Kind, motivated, high executive functioning, and skilled at managing up.
- Preferred:
- Network within independent schools or education organizations.
- Experience in experiential learning, student travel, or enrichment programs.
- Comfort moving from appointment-setting to closing deals.
- Location in the DC/Virginia area.
- Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $75,000
- Incentives: Performance bonuses tied to new clients and revenue growth
- Benefits: PTO + Jewish and federal holidays, health stipend/benefits package, professional development budget, remote work set-up support
