At Estmere, we serve roofing contractors and home service businesses as their fully outsourced accounting department. We're not a generalist firm — we specialize in construction and trades, and we hold our work to a high standard. We're hiring a • *Senior Accountant / QC Lead** to own our technical accounting standard. This is a senior, internal-facing role. You will be the last line of defense before anything goes to a client — and the first call when the team hits something they cannot solve. If you've spent years doing the actual work — cleaning up messy books, figuring out what went wrong in the GL, explaining job costing to a contractor who's never thought about WIP — this role was built for you. • *What You'll Do • Review all client deliverables before they go out: financials, reconciliations, reports • Be the first escalation point when the team hits a complex or unfamiliar accounting issue • Clean up and diagnose incomplete or incorrect books on new client onboarding • Build a problem resolution library so recurring issues don't keep escalating • Set and enforce Estmere's technical accounting standard across all client accounts • Train and develop junior and mid-level bookkeepers on technical concepts • Work directly with the Operations Manager to improve delivery consistency • *What this role is NOT: Not client-facing. Not a people manager. Not sales. • *What We're Looking For • 5–7 years of hands-on accounting experience — bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end close • Direct experience cleaning up messy or incomplete books • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online • Construction, trades, or home services accounting background — job costing and WIP are not new concepts to you • Can explain accounting clearly to non-accountants; has trained or mentored junior staff • *Strong signals: Office Manager at a construction company who also handled the books. Small firm background. Built a QC process from scratch. • *Not for you if:** Large corporate accounting only. You haven't touched a messy GL.
