Reporting Analyst Internship The Power BI Reporting Analyst Intern will support Performance Impact IQ (PIQ) , Assurant’s enterprise analytics product designed to transform sales and operational data into actionable insights for field teams, managers, and business leaders. PIQ helps identify high‑opportunity locations, uncover performance drivers, and enable data‑driven actions that improve sales effectiveness, customer experience, and long‑term value. In this role, the intern will work hands-on with Power BI dashboards, semantic models, and performance optimization metrics used across the business. (60%) Development of Power BI Reports Develop and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver clear, insightful, and actionable business intelligence Transform data into actionable visuals by leveraging Power BI, SQL-based datasets, and other internal tools to identify and quantify opportunities Analyze and improve existing reports and dashboards using Power BI best practices (data modeling, DAX optimization, visualization standards) Partner with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements, execute efficiently, and ensure appropriate knowledge transfer and documentation (40%) Support Data Initiatives Perform data validation, quality checks, and basic modeling to ensure reporting accuracy Assist with documentation of report logic, definitions, and data sources Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences to promote data-driven decision making Contribute to Data Analytics “Data as a Product” initiatives through scalable, reusable Power BI solutions Participate in data modeling, reporting standards, and governance best practices Support issue resolution related to data accuracy, report performance, or data availability Required Skills & Experience Prior hands-on experience with Power BI (academic, internship, or professional) Working knowledge of: Power BI Desktop DAX fundamentals Data modeling concepts Experience working with structured datasets (Power BI, SQL outputs, or similar) Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills Exposure to SQL or other query languages Use of DataBricks, Microsoft Fabric, or other cloud-based reporting and storage solutions Familiarity with sales performance metrics, KPIs, or operational reporting Experience with data visualization best practices Prior experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence internships
