Our client, a forward-thinking mining and exploration company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Exploration Geologist to join their dedicated team. This role is primarily field-based with reporting to our office in Madison, Wisconsin . The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying and evaluating new mineral resource opportunities, with a focus on (Specify target minerals, e.g., base metals, precious metals, rare earth elements). You will be responsible for planning and executing geological exploration programs, analyzing geological data, and making recommendations for drilling and resource definition. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of deposit modeling, structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics, coupled with strong leadership and project management skills. This position requires extensive travel to remote exploration sites, often in challenging conditions. You will work collaboratively with geoscientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and successful exploration outcomes. Key Responsibilities: Plan, manage, and execute geological exploration programs, including mapping, sampling, and surveys. Interpret geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to identify and prioritize exploration targets. Develop and refine geological models for prospective deposits. Supervise drilling programs, including core logging, sampling, and assay data interpretation. Conduct detailed structural and lithological mapping of exploration areas. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and summaries of exploration findings for management and stakeholders. Collaborate with resource estimation teams to define and quantify mineral resources. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all exploration activities. Manage exploration budgets and timelines effectively. Mentor junior geologists and provide technical guidance. Stay abreast of new exploration technologies and methodologies. Conduct field reconnaissance and site visits in remote locations. Qualifications: Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology or a related Earth Science field. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration geology, with a proven track record of discovery. Extensive knowledge of ore deposit geology, structural analysis, and exploration techniques relevant to (Specify target minerals). Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Datamine). Experience in supervising drilling operations and interpreting assay data. Strong field geology skills and experience working in challenging terrains. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
