Highly Licensed Epileptologist in decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) or remote clinical research settings acts as a specialized medical expert, focusing on trial integrity, patient safety, and data accuracy, often without requiring daily, in-person patient visits. These roles are typically remote or hybrid, supporting pharmaceutical, biotech, or contract research organizations (CROs).

  • Company handles patient sourcing, prescreening, media, AI outreach, and medical records.
  • Patients are funneled into two shell DCT sites where physicians see patients virtually.
  • Epileptologist is critical for seizure expertise within this model.

Job Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities

  • Remote Data Review: Reviewing, interpreting, and classifying eDiary seizure data submitted by patients or remote sites.
  • Medical Monitoring: Providing real-time monitoring of study endpoints and ensuring subject safety throughout the trial.
  • Protocol Development: Contributing to study design, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and trial amendments, particularly for gene therapies or new antiepileptic drugs.
  • Remote Expertise & Collaboration: Engaging with investigators, site staff, and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) via virtual platforms to discuss complex cases or query discrepancies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all clinical activities adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and ICH guidelines.
  • Diagnostic Review: Evaluating remote EEG, MRI, or other neuroimaging studies.
  • Qualifications: Key Qualifications

Provider must have most state licenses

  • Education & Certification: MD, DO, or equivalent with Board Certification in Neurology and specialized fellowship training in Epileptology or Clinical Neurophysiology.
  • Experience: Previous experience in clinical trials (specifically in epilepsy), with familiarity in EEG and seizure classification.
  • Skills: Proficiency in virtual work environments, strong communication skills for remote patient interaction, and high attention to detail.
  • Licensure: Active medical licensure in the state of employment, with multiple state licenses often preferred.
  • Working Hours: Fully remote

20–40 hours/week (depending)
Skills: Board-certified epileptologist only (not general neurologist).

Clinical trials experience, highly licensed, available.
