Job Description

Mortgage Deal Desk SpecialistAbout C2 Financial
C2 Financial is one of the nation's top-ranked mortgage brokerages, with a 30-year track record of giving independent loan officers the tools, technology, and support they need to win. Our originator network spans the country, backed by 100+ wholesale lender relationships, a modern technology stack, and a team dedicated to making every loan originator on the platform more successful. We're building the infrastructure to help our originators do their best work — and this role is central to that mission.
The Role
As our Mortgage Deal Desk Specialist, you'll serve as the deal desk expert and mentor our loan originators rely on when a scenario gets complex. You'll help them structure deals, navigate C2's wholesale lender network, and sharpen their skills through a structured mentorship program. This role doesn't originate loans — it makes the people who do better at their jobs. If you've sat on both sides of the table (as an LO and as a wholesale AE), you're exactly who we're looking for.
What You'll Do
Deal Desk & Scenario SupportServe as the go-to resource for loan originators working through complex scenarios — self-employed, bank statement, non-QM, jumbo, investment property, second home, credit-challenged borrowers, and more
Leverage your knowledge of C2's wholesale lender network — including lender niches, overlays, pricing tendencies, and product appetite — to match scenarios to the best-fit lender
Partner with originators on income calculation strategies, DTI optimization, asset structuring, and compensating factor analysis to position files for approval
Support originators in the practical use of ARIVE LOS for scenario submission, lender comparison, and loan structuring
Build and maintain working relationships with wholesale AEs across C2's lender partners to stay current on product changes, pricing specials, and underwriting flexibility

LO Mentorship ProgramProvide structured mentorship to loan originators in C2's mentorship program, including scheduled coaching sessions, scenario walk-throughs, and file reviews
Contribute to mentorship program quality through curriculum input, session feedback, and identifying topics where additional LO development is needed
Document deal desk inquiries and resolutions to build a knowledge base and surface recurring training opportunities

Knowledge & GuidelinesMaintain current working knowledge of agency guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA) and non-agency / non-QM program parameters across the wholesale channel
Stay current on lender-specific overlays, product changes, and pricing dynamics across C2's network
What We're Looking For
Required5+ years of mortgage industry experience, with at least 3 years in the wholesale channel
Demonstrated working knowledge of agency and non-agency loan products, including non-QM programs
Strong income analysis skills — self-employed, K-1, bank statement, and other complex scenarios
Familiarity with the wholesale lender landscape and ability to differentiate lender niches and overlays
Strong communication and consultative skills — you can coach and influence without direct authority
Proficiency with mortgage technology: LOS platforms and pricing engines

Nice to Have
We consider dual-perspective experience — having worked as both a Loan Originator and a Wholesale Mortgage Account Executive — the strongest predictor of success in this role. If that's your background, lead with it.
Prior hands-on experience with ARIVE LOS
Active NMLS license or ability to obtain one
Prior experience in a deal desk, scenario desk, mentorship, sales coaching, or LO development role
Compensation & Details
Base Salary: $85,000 – $120,000, depending on experience and depth of wholesale background
Total Compensation: $105,000 – $144,000+ target total cash (base + performance bonus)
Employment Type: Full-Time | Exempt
Location: San Diego, CA (HQ) | Remote or Hybrid considered for the right candidate
Benefits
Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays
Bonus Opportunities
Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance
Fitness Reimbursement
Weekly Company Lunches & Breakfasts
Company Sponsored Events
