Job Overview We are looking for an exceptional Lead Software Engineer to lead the development of our media experience layer, a critical component in delivering seamless and high-quality streaming experiences across our brands. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and fostering a layered design for media playback that can traverse all arenaflex direct-to-customer brands, ensuring a predictable programming design that conveys a top-tier streaming experience for our viewers while providing a foundation for media playback innovation.
Key Responsibilities Collaboration and planning with peer services and front-end teams to ensure a cohesive and innovative approach to media playback development. Client module writing involving coding best practices for the bolthires platform, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and user experience. Innovative work for media playback experiences, staying at the forefront of industry trends and technologies to continuously improve and expand our streaming capabilities. Participation in project planning and team activities, contributing to the strategic direction of our media experience layer and ensuring alignment with arenaflex's overall vision and goals.
Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or its equivalent. At least 3 years of experience in Roku SceneGraph and BrightScript development, with a deep understanding of the technologies and their applications in streaming services. At least 3 years of experience working with HLS or MPEG-bolthires adaptive streaming solutions, with a strong grasp of the protocols and their role in delivering high-quality streaming experiences.
Solid verbal and written communication and data presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience and proficiency working with HLS, transport stream, and CMAF media formats, with a strong understanding of the technical aspects of media playback and streaming. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
Experience with other programming languages and technologies relevant to streaming services and media playback development. Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and their applications in scalable and efficient streaming services. Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems.
