Senior Process Engineer specializing in CNC Machining. This role involves developing next-generation milling processes for custom dental prosthetics, optimizing workflows, and integrating automation systems to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Responsibilities β’ Own CNC process development for patient-specific dental components β from prototype to scaled production β’ Design and validate machining workflows for multi-axis mills (3-, 4-, and 5-axis) that achieve micron-level precision, excellent surface finish, and high throughput β’ Integrate automation systems (robotic loading, part handling, in-line probing, vision inspection) into CNC workflows to achieve 24/7 'lights-out' operation β’ Optimize toolpaths, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies for complex geometries and challenging materials (zirconia, titanium, PMMA, and wax) β’ Develop and document process standards β tool libraries, fixture designs, validation protocols, and SPC control plans β to ensure reproducibility and compliance β’ Collaborate with R&D and design teams to improve manufacturability of patient-specific geometries while maintaining clinical fidelity β’ Lead root cause analysis and yield improvement across machining cells using structured problem-solving and statistical tools β’ Work cross-functionally with software, automation, and quality teams to build reliable, automated manufacturing lines capable of scaling to tens of thousands of custom parts per day β’ Scout and qualify new technologies β cutting tools, coolant systems, machine architectures, or in-process metrology systems β to push the limits of digital manufacturing β’ Work with industrial automation vendors to design milling automation solutions Skills β’ 8+ years of experience in micron-level precision CNC machining, automation, or process development, ideally within medical devices, dental, or other patient-specific manufacturing domains β’ Deep technical fluency in multi-axis milling (3-, 4-, and 5-axis) β milling strategy development, toolpath optimization, cutting dynamics, and precision fixturing β’ Experience developing, tuning, or troubleshooting post-processors or control drivers for G- and M-code generation (e.g., Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens) β’ Proven experience integrating automation or robotics into machining workflows (robot arms, part changers, vision systems, or in-line measurement) β’ Strong understanding of statistical process control (SPC), process validation, and manufacturing scalability β’ A systems-thinking approach β understanding how design, manufacturing, and inspection fit together in a digital feedback loop β’ Comfort working in an agile, fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment β’ Experience in dental, orthopedic, or other regulated medical device manufacturing β’ Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485, or GMP process validation β’ Background in machining brittle ceramics or titanium alloys β’ Exposure to closed-loop manufacturing (e.g., vision feedback for tool wear or dimensional control) β’ Experience working with automation integrators or designing robotic cells for high-mix / low-volume production Benefits β’ Healthcare β’ Dental β’ Mental health support β’ Parental planning resources β’ Retirement savings options β’ Generous paid time off Company Overview β’ More than a dental labβDandy is a tech-powered, end-to-end solution delivering high-quality, customized restorations at scale.
