We're seeking a creative UI/UX Designer who can translate customer feedback into intuitive, accessible interfaces and collaborate closely with developers in a DoD environment.

You will own design iteration, present concepts to stakeholders, and implement approved UI in code (CSS/SCSS) within a modern React front end. Position Type: Full-Time Team: Systems Development/Shared Resource

Salary: $90k-$120k (depending on experience) Work Location: Fully Remote. Essential Functions: β€’ Customer research & iteration - Communicate with customers and end users to gather feedback (interviews, walkthroughs, surveys), synthesize insights, and iterate on design concepts to improve usability and clarity.

β€’ Design production & demos - Create low/high-fidelity wireframes and visual mockups; prepare and deliver demo-ready design walk-throughs to customers and internal stakeholders. β€’ Front‑end implementation - Convert approved designs into clean, maintainable CSS/SCSS within the application; partner with developers to align styling, components, and accessibility standards across HTML, JavaScript, and React. β€’ Issue hygiene - Review and update Git/GitLab issues to ensure clarity, accurate status, labels, acceptance criteria, and links to design artifacts and documentation.

β€’ Team ceremonies - Attend project and team meetings (standups, planning, reviews, retros) and contribute to delivery commitments. β€’ Technical collaboration - Participate in developer discussions (architecture, components, theming, design tokens), provide UI/UX input, and help document decisions. Requirements Required: β€’ Professional UI/UX design experience building web application interfaces. β€’ Experience demonstrating user-centered design process (research β†’ ideation β†’ iteration β†’ validation) and shipped product work.

β€’ Proficiency in Figma and modern front-end implementation (CSS/SCSS, component-based UI in React). β€’ Experience demoing design work, gathering feedback, and translating it into action. β€’ Working knowledge of Git/GitLab workflows (issues, merge requests, code review, bolthires basics). β€’ Strong communication skills and comfort presenting to customers and cross-functional teams. Preferred: β€’ Experience in regulated or mission-critical environments (government, defense, healthcare, finance). β€’ Designing and implementing design systems (tokens, components, theming) in React.

β€’ Comfort with light JavaScript to wire up interactive prototypes and validate UI behavior. Education/

Experience: BS/BA degree and minimum of 5 years related experience required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance. Active Secret clearance desired, interim Secret acceptable to start.
