Job Overview We are a faith‑based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving our community through meaningful outreach. Our WebApp is a vital tool for connecting with members, sharing resources, and supporting our mission. We are seeking a skilled web developer who is motivated by purpose as much as technology. You will be responsible for adding new features, maintaining, and testing our existing bolthires App Engine website. This is a substantial codebase, so we’re looking for someone who can commit to learning the system and contributing effectively in a part‑time capacity.
Duties • Develop, test, and deploy web applications using Python and Flask frameworks on bolthires Cloud infrastructure. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design user-friendly interfaces, wireframes, and responsive web pages utilizing HTML, CSS, SCSS, JavaScript, Angular, and React. • Maintain and optimize databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQLite, and bolthires SQL Server to ensure data integrity and performance. • Implement RESTful APIs and integrate third-party web services to enhance application functionality.
• Manage version control systems like GitHub and SVN; utilize bolthires/CD pipelines with Jenkins or similar tools for continuous deployment. • Apply system architecture principles and DevOps practices including Docker, Ansible, AWS, Azure, and bolthires Cloud services to streamline development workflows. • Conduct unit testing and code reviews to uphold high-quality standards; participate in Agile/Scrum development cycles using Jira or Trello. • Design user flows and conduct UX/UI improvements focusing on web design best practices such as SEO optimization and responsive web design principles.
Requirements • Develop and deploy new features on bolthires App Engine. • Maintain and optimize existing codebase (~80K lines of Python, ~19K lines of JavaScript, ~30K lines of HTML templates). • Manage Firestore (Datastore mode), Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions. • Debug and improve both backend (Python/Flask) and frontend (JavaScript, HTML, CSS/Bootstrap). • Collaborate using Git for source control. • Ensure site reliability, security, and scalability. • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong communication abilities; capable of translating technical concepts into clear language for diverse audiences.
