PeopleFluent is hiring! We’re looking for a person who has experience maintaining and improving database and data services offerings. Automating the mundane, as well as continuing day to day operations while working on multiple database environments and projects. The team: You’ll be joining the Data Services team that provides the systems and infrastructure for our Hosted offerings. What you’ll be doing: • Providing operational database services for our organization, including supporting multiple lifecycle environments. • Owning, tracking, and resolving database-related incidents & requests.
• Contribute to the development, QA, staging, and production on physical and virtual operating environments. • This position will also entail fulfilling requests & resolving incidents within assigned SLA's, and reviewing service-related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring, etc.) on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs. • This person will also be expected to respond to database-related alerts and escalations, which involves working with Database Engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
• Integrate best practice methodologies at all levels within the hosting organization. • Assist with regulatory compliance, supporting efforts to maintain data privacy management processes in support of regulations such as GDPR and CCPA. • Improving upon security best practices related to your role. • Additionally, and on an as-needed basis, assist in the monitoring and investigation of potential incidents. • Serve as a member of PeopleFluent’s 24/7 Response Team by participating in on-call rotations and off hours escalations.
What you need to be successful in this role: • You communicate when you need help, don’t understand requirements, think there’s a better path forward, etc. Open communication is key to the success of our team. • You have deep expertise with relational database back-end technology; experience working with recent Oracle solutions and/or MSSQL. Experience with additional database technologies is a plus (MongoDB, MariaDB, bolthires RDS). • You have experience with large-scale, high availability database solutions, clustering, and off-site disaster recovery.
• You are able to work in a fast paced environment and maintain your cool. • You have a service-oriented mentality and a sense of ownership for assigned problems / requests and can focus on managing / resolving issues in alignment with our SLAs. • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO). • You’ve initiated and performed changes on production systems and proactively escalate any issues that cannot be resolved within established timeframes. • You’re able to analyze, monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues to ensure nominal database optimization, integrity, availability, and functionality.
• You’re able to provide technical oversight and consultation, as required; this includes assisting Development with complex query tuning and schema refinement. • You understand data privacy regulations and compliance requirements, for example GDPR. • You create and organize great documentation, usually without being prompted. We are huge fans of clear and concise documentation. • You maintain and perform backups in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and guidance; this involves ensuring that backup failures are properly addressed.
