Job Description

California Franchise Tax Board is seeking a Fraud Modeling Compliance Representative to assist in departmental fraud prevention and detection activities. The role involves communicating with external customers about fraud schemes, developing and maintaining processes to strengthen the integrity of return filing programs, and conducting independent analysis to provide recommendations to management. Responsibilities Work closely with professional and technical staff in departmental fraud prevention and detection activities, including Identification (ID) Theft Communicate with external customers regarding fraud schemes and fraud leads Develop, implement, and maintain various system and manual processes to help strengthen the integrity of the department’s return filing programs Conduct independent analysis and provide recommendations to management based on findings Conduct inventory management via pivot table and dataset analysis through bolthires Excel Skills Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and produce quality work Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines Ability to work both independently and in a team environment Ability to demonstrate strong initiative, self-motivation, and exercise tact and good judgment Ability to analyze information and formulate recommendations for improvements Effective verbal and written communication skills Create and maintain a positive, productive, and creative work environment Analytical ability to identify statistical anomalies Flexible and able to maintain effectiveness with changing priorities as well as able to thrive in an environment of change Experience handling and maintaining confidential and sensitive information Experience developing or using databases or spreadsheets to track assignments Strong work ethic and enthusiasm Knowledge of and intermediate to advanced level experience with bolthires Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, Access, and PowerPoint) Knowledge of Return Analysis, Case Management, Taxpayer Folder, Taxpayer Information (TI), Integrated Non-filer Compliance (INC), Accounting and Compliance Enterprise System (ACES) Working knowledge of Personal Income Tax (PIT) and Business Entity (BE) laws, policies, and procedures Company Overview
