About the position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Carilion Clinic involves providing practical nursing support in a physician practice or clinic setting. The role includes patient assessment, preparation for provider evaluations, administering medications, maintaining a clean work environment, documenting patient information, and assisting with referrals and lab procedures. This position offers the flexibility of working remotely 1-2 days a week and is part of a collaborative healthcare team focused on delivering quality patient care.
Responsibilities
Β Completes patient assessment including height, weight, vital signs, chief complaint, and current medications.

Β Prepares patients for provider evaluations, including obtaining specimens and assisting during exams.

Β Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider.

Β Maintains cleanliness and safety of work areas, exam rooms, and lab; restocks supplies and sterilizes equipment as needed.

Β Documents patient information in the electronic medical record.

Β Provides patient education as directed by the provider, including lab results and medication instructions.

Β Assists with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for testing and services.

Β Assists with lab procedures.
Requirements
Β Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing or a new graduate eligible for the Virginia licensure exam.

Β One year of experience in a physician office preferred.

Β Current licensure as a Practical Nurse in Virginia (LPN) required.

Β Licensure as a Radiologic Technician Limited if performing radiology.

Β Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.

Β Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor.

Β Ability to problem-solve and communicate effectively with diverse individuals.

Β Skills to utilize automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Β Excellent organizational and time management skills.
