State & Local Tax Senior Associate - Income / Franchise Focus - Remote Eligible

Who You Are
Β You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (required); a Master's of Taxation, MBA, LLM in Taxation or JD are preferred.
Β You have 2+ years of experience with state and local income/franchise tax (required).
Β You have a Valid CPA license or JD, or are working towards obtaining CPA license or JD
Β You have a well-rounded knowledge of state and local tax principles and experience with tax research
Β You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
Β You have the ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects.
Β You have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
Β You are proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Word
As a member of the National Tax Office State & Local Team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of state and local income/franchise tax projects, including tax planning, restructuring, due diligence, audit defense, audit management, taxability research, writing and correspondence.
A typical day as an Income/Franchise Tax Senior Associate might include the following:
Β Research and review state and local income/franchise tax matters, including nexus determination, taxability analysis and quantification of potential liabilities.
Β Assist clients with various compliance matters including income/franchise tax return preparation and review.
Β Respond to notices issued by states and local tax jurisdictions.
Β Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies including preparing clients for discussions with auditors, assisting with the representation of clients at administrative appeals, appeal meetings and preparing written protests.
Β Assist with the negotiation and drafting of settlement terms with state and local taxing authorities.
Β Assist with the identification and presentation of multistate tax opportunities to internal and external clients.
Β Prepare and review memoranda on state and local tax issues for corporations, partnerships and LLCs.
Β Prepare and review ruling requests and respond to state and local tax audits.
Β Manage voluntary disclosure projects.
Β Assist with due diligence projects.
Β Develop multistate expertise by keeping current with latest legislation and case law related to state income/franchise tax
Β Participate in practice development activities focused on forming strong relationships with clients, prospective clients and governmental personnel.
Β Ensure timely and accurate performance on assigned projects.
Β Maintains compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines.
