About the position
The Research Coordinator I position at UTHealth School of Public Health is designed to support the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research by performing various administrative functions. This role involves coordinating day-to-day business and financial processes, managing travel and purchasing, and assisting with the smooth operation of projects under the supervision of the Center Manager.
Responsibilities
ย Coordinates the day-to-day business and financial processes.

ย May trend past performance and forecast future financials.

ย Coordinates and monitors travel, purchasing, payroll, contracts, and grants.
,
ย Assists in reconciling contracts and grants projects.
,
ย Handles confidential information and sensitive issues.
,
ย Coordinates and schedules Human Resources activities including recruiting and selection for classified staff.
,
ย Monitors open encumbrances and expenditures, providing reports on budget status.
,
ย Responsible for acquiring documents needed to monitor adherence to grant or program requirements.
,
ย Maintains departmental equipment and space inventories.
,
ย May train entry-level support staff.
,
ย Advises on financial and business practices, policy, and procedures as assigned by supervisor.
,
ย Responsible for making routine business and financial decisions and judgment calls.
,
ย Assigned routine budget and financial responsibilities by supervisor.
,
ย Maintains and reconciles financial records.
,
ย Assists with coordination of lecture series and other department events.
,
ย Coordinates department project/administrative files for storage for the mandatory retention period.
,
ย Provides support for department faculty as needed.
,
ย Responsible for entering and processing deposits and invoicing service contracts or salary reimbursement agreements against department funds.

ย Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
ย Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
,
ย Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
,
ย Working knowledge of MS Office.
