About the position

The Research Coordinator I position at UTHealth School of Public Health is designed to support the Center for Health Promotion and Prevention Research by performing various administrative functions. This role involves coordinating day-to-day business and financial processes, managing travel and purchasing, and assisting with the smooth operation of projects under the supervision of the Center Manager.

Responsibilities
Β• Coordinates the day-to-day business and financial processes.
,
Β• May trend past performance and forecast future financials.
,
Β• Coordinates and monitors travel, purchasing, payroll, contracts, and grants.
,
Β• Assists in reconciling contracts and grants projects.
,
Β• Handles confidential information and sensitive issues.
,
Β• Coordinates and schedules Human Resources activities including recruiting and selection for classified staff.
,
Β• Monitors open encumbrances and expenditures, providing reports on budget status.
,
Β• Responsible for acquiring documents needed to monitor adherence to grant or program requirements.
,
Β• Maintains departmental equipment and space inventories.
,
Β• May train entry-level support staff.
,
Β• Advises on financial and business practices, policy, and procedures as assigned by supervisor.
,
Β• Responsible for making routine business and financial decisions and judgment calls.
,
Β• Assigned routine budget and financial responsibilities by supervisor.
,
Β• Maintains and reconciles financial records.
,
Β• Assists with coordination of lecture series and other department events.
,
Β• Coordinates department project/administrative files for storage for the mandatory retention period.

Β• Provides support for department faculty as needed.

Β• Responsible for entering and processing deposits and invoicing service contracts or salary reimbursement agreements against department funds.

Β• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Β• Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Β• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Β• Working knowledge of MS Office.
