Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Γ Γ Γ Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: Γ forklift, pallet jack and hand truck
2.Γ Γ Γ Verify documentation matches freight description (e.g. type, weight, hazardous materials), using current electronic or manual system
3.Γ Γ Γ Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies (e.g. pallets, straps, rope)
4.Γ Γ Γ Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
5.Γ Γ Γ Verify and complete required documentation and reports
6.Γ Γ Γ Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
7.Γ Γ Γ Perform hostling duties if required
8.Γ Γ Γ Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
9.Γ Γ Γ Perform other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Must be at least 18 years of age
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or fork lift operations preferred
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Basic written and verbal communication skills
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Hours may vary due to operational need
ΓΒΓ Γ Γ Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline oriented
