DESCRIPTION:
I’m seeking a skilled developmental and line editor to collaborate on my self-help manuscript, Empath on the Wrong Path: From Codependency to Empowerment. This emotionally rich, transformational book guides highly sensitive readers—Empaths—through the journey from toxic patterns and emotional enmeshment to empowered, authentic living.
PROJECT SCOPE:
Current manuscript is approximately 36,000 words
Seeking an editor who can also assist with ghostwriting and/or coaching to help expand and deepen the content as needed.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR:
Developmental Editing: Enhance structure, logical flow, emotional depth, and cohesion. Ensure each chapter contributes meaningfully to the transformational arc of the book.
Line Editing: Improve clarity, rhythm, and impact at the sentence level. Polish phrasing while preserving the book’s voice—warm, intuitive, emotionally intelligent.
Expansion Support: Help flesh out concepts, examples, and exercises. Collaboration may include light ghostwriting or editorial coaching to reach the final word count target.
Consistency and Integration: Maintain consistent use of terminology (“Empath,” “Love,” “Copath,” “Selfist”) and ensure smooth flow between sections and chapters.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Emotionally resonant and conversational in tone
Includes original frameworks and terminology
Designed for readers on a healing and self-empowerment journey
Combines psychology, personal development, and spirituality
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Proven experience editing transformational self-help, trauma recovery, or psychology/spirituality-based nonfiction
Has worked on books published by major or mid-size publishers (e.g., Hay House, HarperOne, Sounds True, etc.) or has direct connections within the publishing industry
Comfortable with deep emotional themes and empowering narratives
Bonus: Experience as a writing coach or developmental ghostwriter
DELIVERABLES:
Edits and comments via Google Docs using Suggested Edits (tracked changes)
Editorial letter summarizing developmental feedback
Optional: strategy sessions or coaching support for expanding content
TIMELINE: Ideally within 2–3 weeks, with flexibility for collaborative expansion
